After growing up in the auto repair industry, Legacy Auto Repair owners Emily and Leona McCleskey said they followed their dreams and opened their own shop in Conroe.
Legacy Auto Repair celebrated its first anniversary on March 1.
Third-generation auto shop owner Emily McCleskey said her grandparents bought Houston Automatic Transmission in 1978 and her grandfather was president of the Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association in the 1980s. his father started a location on the north side of Houston Automatic Transmission that is still open at 18902 Hwy. 249, Houston, which was also managed by her brother at one point, Emily said.
After running a repair shop in Tomball, Emily said she started running Cars Complete in Conroe, which later became Legacy Auto Repair. When Leona was made redundant in the security and refinery industry, the couple began looking for a place to set up shop, Emily said.
“It was just one of those perfect timing things, … and we ended up here [in Conroe]where I already knew the clientele and the community,” said Emily.
The McCleskeys purchased Cars Complete from the previous owner and reopened the store with a new name to honor their family history in the industry.
“We chose ‘legacy’ as a tribute to family,” Emily said. “It’s what my grandparents created, it’s a legacy of doing things the right way, taking care of customers and making sure things are done right the first time.”
Whether it’s a mother with children or a lunchtime customer, Emily said her focus is on the customer.
“We’ll work with you on whatever we can, and if we can’t complete a full repair or because it’s not in your budget, we’ll help you figure out the best way to get there.” she declared.
