FERNDALE, Mich. – An Oakland County auto repair shop was suspended for hiring uncertified mechanics, charging customers for repairs not performed and several other violations, state officials said.
Amazin Auto Repair at 503 East Eight Mile Road in Ferndale has been suspended due to violations of the Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Act.
Members of the Secretary of State’s regulatory staff said the repair shop continually employed mechanics who lacked the proper certification to diagnose repairs and service vehicles.
The store has also been cited for failing to reveal important information to a customer, charging for repairs not performed, providing a customer with an incorrect invoice, and charging for replacement of parts found still in the vehicle after supposed service. officials said.
According to authorities, the licensee also failed to keep records as required by law.
Repair shops can request an administrative hearing to challenge their suspension and can get their license back if they prove they followed the law.
