Galena dealership acquires long-standing automotive workshop

Vehicle Dealership Galena acquired a local tire and auto store, bringing its employees and services under one roof.

Galena Chrysler, 11300 US 20, acquired Foley’s Tire, Auto & Truck Service. Don Foley is the former owner of Foley’s and now the service manager of Galena Chrysler. Its technicians also now work at the dealership.

“It brought in (Foley’s) 40-year expertise, not just as a mechanic but also in shop management, as well as the expertise of his technicians,” Rosean Schromen, owner of Galena Chrysler, told about the move. “…He is also very trustworthy. He has good repair sense, which is important.

Schromen said the idea of ​​joining Foley’s team came from a conversation about the difficulty of finding mechanics to hire.

At the same time, she said, Foley’s business partner, Mike Sproule, decided he would be fine with stepping out of the partnership, allowing Galena Chrysler to join the rest of the team at Foley. The merger added two technicians to the three already working in the Galena Chrysler shop, she said.

“Don Foley had a prolific following and (customers) follow him, which we’re thrilled about,” Schromen said.

The move also added Foley’s space at 11471 Industrial Drive in Galena Chrysler. However, Schromen said the property is for sale, along with two other buildings on Galena Square Drive and US 20 that the dealership previously occupied.

She said the dealership opened its current location near Wal-Mart about two years ago.

“It’s a state-of-the-art building,” Schromen said. “There’s plenty of room for the vehicles on the showroom floor and for those working in the workshop.”
