Driver collides with Alton auto repair shop

John Badman | Workers at the Stutz Service Telegraph, 910 Milton Road in Alton, assess damage to the auto shop on Wednesday morning following an accident late Tuesday evening. A female driver, apparently westbound on Milton Road, left the carriageway, entered a car-filled lot at Stutz Service and crashed through the double garage doors around 10 p.m. Tuesday, destroying a central pole in a lump of concrete. The woman was not seriously injured. The car miraculously missed more than a dozen vehicles in the parking lot, as well as the company tow truck and a car on a lift inside the garage. The company was closed at the time.

ALTON — A Tuesday night driver caused extensive damage to the Stutz service at 910 Milton Road in Alton.

At around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, an apparently westbound female driver on Milton Road left the carriageway, drove through a lot of cars and crashed through the double garage doors of the auto shop, destroying a central pole in concrete block.

The company was closed at the time.

The driver, whose name has not been released, was not seriously injured in the incident. Alton police and firefighters responded to the scene to find the driver already out of the vehicle and walking around.


The car missed a dozen or more other vehicles in the parking lot, as well as the company tow truck and a car on a lift inside the garage.
