Burglar steals chainsaws and cash from Jackson County auto store, police say

JACKSON COUNTY, MI — An auto shop was the victim of equipment and cash theft Wednesday night, police said.

At approximately 8:47 p.m. on February 16, officers from the Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety responded to a commercial alarm sounding at Performance Automotive Northwest, located at 2710 Airport Road in Blackman Township.

Upon arrival, officers found that someone had broken into the building.

Several chainsaws and an unknown amount of cash were stolen, police said.

The suspect was a man, driving a red Dodge pickup truck with a small dent visible on the left outer side of his bed, according to surveillance footage from the scene.

The theft is still under investigation. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Detective Jeremiah Wheeler at 517-788-4223.
