1 injured in fire that set Ambler auto repair shop on fire

The owner of an Ambler auto repair shop was injured in a three-alarm fire that set the garage ablaze on Thursday morning.

The devastating fire broke out inside Ebner Auto’s on Main Street in Ambler around 10 a.m., according to firefighters.

Chief Jay Leadbeater of the Wissahickon Fire Company told reporters firefighters battled flames at the rear of the building for 20 minutes before the blaze raged.

A third alarm was raised less than an hour into the fight and response teams drew water from Wissahickon Creek, impacting SEPTA services.

FOX 29’s Marcus Espinoza reports that the owner of the garage has been taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation, but is expected to be fine.

Leadbeater said the fire was brought under control around 2:30 p.m. The garage and a nearby two-story structure are considered a total loss.

Two other nearby businesses sustained minimal smoke damage.

Fire investigators did not specify the cause of the fire.
